As traffic began to stop, two trucks struck a van, which hit another car, which then hit the Toyota Corolla that Harshaw was in, causing it to overturn, GSP troopers said.

Harshaw was in the passenger seat with her boyfriend, according to her mother, Melissa Gunther.

The interstate was shut down for several hours.

“McKayla was a beautiful, thriving young woman with her entire life ahead of her,” Gunther said.

A GoFundMe was created to help the family pay for funeral expenses.
