British holidaymakers are threatening to give Spanish Islands a miss if the proposed drinks limit at all-inclusive resorts is implemented.

Spanish authorities confirmed plans to cap the number of drinks tourists can consume during a day at all-inclusive hotels. The proposed limit is six drinks per day, with three allocated for the afternoon and another three for the evening.

However, Brits who regularly visit these popular holiday destinations have warned they won’t return if the ban stays in place. Regulations first introduced in 2020 are set to be ramped up this year, with restrictions on late-night alcohol sales being imposed. Further controls on boat parties are also expected, and people replying to a TikTok on the news are not best pleased.

Those who enjoy a drink or two while holidaying on the Spanish Islands have voiced their opposition to the potentially stricter rules. British TikTok user @youfoundstephen, who resides in Spain, asked his followers for their thoughts on the ban.

Some responded by vowing never to visit the Spanish Islands again. The rule applies to the following resorts: Magaluf in Majorca, Playa de Palma in Majorca, El Arenal in Majorca, and San Antonio in Ibiza. One disgruntled fan of these holiday spots dismissed the all-inclusive package and said they’ve made alternative plans. “With the new laws in Spain lately, I’ll never go back,” they vented.

Another predicted: “Will put an end to tourism, most people won’t pay the all inclusive price, and buy the over inflated booze prices in hotels.” Many holidaymakers are seeking alternative getaways, forsaking all-inclusive resorts for different accommodations. One comment read: “Stayed in Airbnbs for years would never go back to a hotel,” while another person remarked: “So it’s not ‘all inclusive… it’s ‘some inclusive’.”

However, some view the recent restrictions positively, suggesting there’s more to vacations than just alcohol consumption. One wrote: “It would be fine for me as I don’t really drink but I think anyone wanting 20 alcoholic drinks in a day needs to rethink their life choices.”
