It has taken eight long days but a cute little dog has finally been rescued after she got trapped underground.
Rose, a Jack Russell, fell through a 12-inch gap in a rock face in Halifax last Thursday and rescue efforts proved fruitless until now.
Rescuer Mark Tiffin said they ‘have her’ now, and she is on her way to the vets to be checked over, before she can return home.
A group of strong men have been drilling straight into the rock face to try and save her.
It didn’t stop there either because others in Halifax rallied around and provided help by bringing along industrial tools to help.
To try and keep Rose alive, rescuers passed down food and water to help as they kept drilling into the rock.
Many tools were left damaged from the hard work and even diggers had to be brought in eventually.
Members of the community have once again stepped in to help, with a GoFundMe campaign launched to help pay for new replacement tools.
The campaign says: ‘The volunteers have been working tirelessly for the last 7 days to free Rose the little dog trapped inside cliffs in Halifax.
‘The boys have had various items of expensive equipment broken and destroyed throughout this rescue misson including jack hammers and sthil saws etc.
‘The tools are the volunteers own and used for their small businesses and are expensive to replace.
‘I’m asking everyone to donate and help these guys replace their personal equipment and help with expenses that have occurred through this mission.’
So far, the campaign has managed to raise £10,530.
Writing on Facebook, the dog’s owner previously said she was amazed at the work of the men especially one of them called Ben.
She said: ‘As everyone is probably aware, my family pet Rose fell into the cliffs near my home.
‘Ben didn’t know myself Luke, or Rose, but he has come out of his way from Bradford bringing only himself his van and tools.
‘Ben has slept in his van for the last 3 nights. He’s worked as if Rose was his own dog. We as a family will forever be grateful.’
