Many Eamonn Holmes followers were shocked when the presenter shared a sultry selfie to Instagram this morning.
The former This Morning presenter, 64, sparked controversy earlier this year after he and his wife Ruth Langsford separated following 14 years of marriage.
The broadcaster seems to have recovered from the breakup, recently embarking on a luxury cruise with his new girlfriend just months after his divorce.
On Thursday morning (October 3), Eamonm Holmes dropped a post on Instagram from the driver’s seat of his car, addressing a steamy expression to the camera, reports the Mirror.
“Set off at 5.30 …. Driving through a beautiful Sunny Birmingham now”, his caption read, eliciting praise from fans with many commenters complementing the journalist on his dapper appearance.
However, a row soon erupted after some followers claimed that the star had shared an old photo.
“Lovely photo”, one Instagram user commented, while another shared: “Looking good.” A third agreed: “TV Legend. Looking good.”
While a fourth continued: “Looking good! Have a great day Eamonn, Gem Belfast.” Another concluded: “Looking like a young Bert Reynolds without the tash.”
However, another Instagram user argued: “This pic is same one used in July”, just as one follower wrote: “Not a current photo.” Moments later, Eamonn relayed another selfie in which he appears enjoying a “bacon bap breakfast” – but the new post didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes on the platform.
“Do we REALLY need to see this”, one follower asked, to which Eamonn responded: “Well Dee u r the one who likes food. Only doing it because some people think I’m posting old pics!”
Another argument broke out in the comment sections as several commenters took issue with Eamonn’s harsh words against Phillip Schofield, who is enjoying renewed fame from his new show on Channel 5.
One follower shared bitingly: “Why be so unkind to Schofield when ur own behaviour is not kind towards Ruth? Makes no sense. I have always loved your views but people in glass houses….. be kind.”
Another echoed: “Try doing yourself a favour, and being a little bit more kind. It will go a long way.” A third stated: “I used to like you Eamonn but Phill Schofield in my opinion is way more talented and way more nicer than you!”
The controversy began on Monday (September 30) when Eamonn Holmes ripped into Phillip on GB news and said he is “proud” to have been one of the people who “threw him under the bus”, as he fronted his morning show.
Eammon said: “I believe he is where he deserves to be,” later stating: “I am one of the people who threw him under the bus, I am very proud to have done it.”
He continued: “This man is addicted to fame. Absolutely addicted to fame.”
