BECKLEY, W.Va. – Fayette County announced that the burn ban in effect has been lifted.

The announcement was made on Oct 3 by the Fayette County Commission.

The ban was originally placed on Sept. 13, but as of Oct. 3 the ban has been lifted because of the rain the County saw over the past week.

Threats that could have led to fires, especially wildfires, have “moderated at this time”, according to the Fayette County Commission.

Fall Fire Season began on Oct. 1 and the West Virginia Division of Forestry wants to remind people to keep their outdoor burning to the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. Fires that are also set during that time, have to be put out by 7 a.m.
