I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star James Haskell has thanked fans for support after sharing an ‘ominous’ post from hospital.
The former England rugby player, who appeared on the ITV reality competition in 2019, revealed his ‘arm fell off’ and he needed surgery.
The 39-year-old took to Instagram to show his arm in a sling, writing: ‘Not what I thought I’d be doing this week! But I’m alive, the Op went well. did someone say Rehab? I know a lot about Rehab. Let the journey begin.’
Fans rushed to wish him well and a ‘speedy recovery’, as James later took to social media with an update.
Filming from hospital, he said in one video: ‘I realised I’ve put an ominous post up with just me in a sling.
‘I can’t begin to tell you how f**king stupid it is what’s happened, but essentially on Monday I ripped the bicep tendon off my left arm.
‘It wasn’t even training, it was filming some content stuff, and the first two times it was absolutely fine, third time I changed my grip, and I ripped it off the bone.’
‘I put 109kg through my arm and it just snapped, and the sound of it was horrific,’ he went on.
Thankfully, James’ surgery went well and he’s now waiting for the ‘wound to heal’.
He insisted he still plans on DJing ‘one-handed’, and hopes to be carrying on with his body transformation, ‘albeit on one side’.
The podcast host went on to talk about his plans for recovery, ‘doing everything I can do’, after the tendon was ‘reattached’.
‘We learnt some lessons, certain levels of content are not for a nearly-40-year-old man,’ he said.
‘Stick to DJing, a lot safer,’ he added, thanking fans for their support.
‘I’m not even playing rugby anymore and my arm has fallen off.’
He later shared an update on his way back from hospital, thanking fans again and explaining that he had to miss a DJing gig because his ‘arm had come off’.
‘I’m going to reschedule, I’ll be back there to play,’ he said.
‘My arm’s fallen off! You all know it’s bad,’ he added, reacting to one message from a fan.
This comes a year after James announced his split from Chloe Madeley after five years of marriage.
The couple split in September 2023, just months after the birth of their daughter Bodhi, who they now co-parent.
The former couple had filmed an ITV reality show prior to their split – Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair – and said in a joint statement that they had ‘mutually decided to separate’.

Alongside the statement, James also typed: ‘It’s with a lot of sadness I write this post, but unfortunately, in the world we live in, it has to be done. My priority is my daughter’s and Chloe’s happiness and security. For that reason, I won’t be commenting any further.’
