A vehicle was deliberately torched on a quiet residential street in a Scots town. Cops scrambled to the scene at Blackcot Road in Dalkeith, Midlothian, on Tuesday, October 1 at around 9.50pm, after reports of a vehicle on fire.
There were no casualties reported but officers are treating the blaze as wilful. A bystander explained how the street was rocked by a loud explosion, reports Edinburgh Live.
The witness said: “We heard a loud bang then went out to see what was going on and started to record then there was another explosion before the fire brigade arrived. I don’t recall anything like this happening over the last few years.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 9.50pm on Tuesday, 1 October, to a report of a car on fire in the Blackcot Road area of Mayfield, Dalkeith.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. No one was injured.
“The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.”
