Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez has finally spoken out about the PVC leather trousers that caused quite a stir on Saturday night, revealing there was a wardrobe malfunction just before he appeared on TV.

On Thursday night’s episode of Strictly It Takes Two (October 3), the dancer discussed his wardrobe mishap alongside his celebrity partner, Dr Punam Krishan.

“They were very tight,” he admitted, comparing the trousers to the tightness of a “nail in a submarine” while chatting with the BBC show’s host, Janette Manrara. Although he seemed ready to move on from the topic, Dr Krishan encouraged him to reveal an off-camera incident involving the trousers.

“He struggled to get them on and off, didn’t you,” she started, reports the Express. “Yeah, I had to have talc… You know chafing? A lot of that,” Gorka responded, before joking that he was “like the guy in Friends” – referring to the episode where Ross Geller (played by David Schwimmer) wears leather trousers on a disastrous date.

As the studio burst into laughter, Dr Krishan continued to coax her dance partner to share more.

“We were just about to go on for the announcement of couples, and he was like ‘What do I put on, do I put on powder, do I put on cream? Do I put on Sudocrem?’. I was like not now, Gorka,” she joked. “‘What will make me chafe the least?’ Just dance will you! ” she responded light-heartedly.

Gorka maintained that the questioning was fitting considering his celeb partner’s profession as a TV doctor.

“Doctor! I was in good hands,” he declared.

Saturday’s performance (September 28) saw Gorka slip into tight trousers for a foxtrot to Shania Twain’s ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman’, leaving viewers quite distracted.

Fans were aflutter over Gorka’s choice of PVC trousers, with social media lighting up with comments. “Gorka’s PVC trousers stole the show! It was giving the matrix vibes,” one fan commented, while another jumped in with: “Huge thank you to the costume department for giving Gorka these pants.”

The trousers generated such buzz that they started trending online, a topic that presenter Manrara brought up on today’s edition of It Takes Two.

A viewer taking note of the conversation on the show tweeted: “Loving how this episode of #ItTakesTwo has just descended into an in-depth discussion of Gorka’s PVC trousers.”
