Strictly Come Dancing favourite, Nick Knowles has finally spoken up about his latest injury ordeal.
The 62-year-old celebrity was gearing up to wow audiences on the glitzy dance floor during movie week alongside his partner Luba Mushtuk. But, a turn for the worse means the duo will be absent from this weekend’s show, with hopes to dazzle viewers the next.
In an exclusive heart-to-heart on Strictly’s spin-off It Takes Two, presented by Janette Manrara, the downhearted yet hopeful pairing shared their disappointment. Addressing viewers, Nick disclosed: “So during our first dress rehearsal today, our run-through of the dance number on the stage, unfortunately, I damaged my knee and it’s quite painful.”
He continued by saying: “So the physios have decided that I need to go for an MRI.”
Taking over, Luba remarked: “Yeah, so unfortunately we’ll not be dancing tomorrow but we really really hope that the knee will be better for the next week and yeah, we’ll be back on the dance floor,” reports the Mirror.
With optimism in their voices, they said, “Fingers crossed, we really hope we’ll be back and see you all guys very soon.”
Clutching his crutch for support, Nick added humorously, “Even if we have to glitter up the crutches, I am determined to get back and to try and dance for you next week.”
After the video had aired, Strictly fans took to social media platform X to express their woes and wishes. One viewer expressed shock: “Oh my God it’s not even Nick’s arm that’s sustained an injury it’s his knee… poor guy.”
Another sympathiser wrote: “Get better soon Nick! Speedy recovery.” Another chimed in, expressing a similar sentiment: “Aww get better soon Nick.”
For the movie-themed week, Nick and Luba had been set to perform the Charleston to Rain On The Roof from the beloved film Paddington 2. However, Strictly’s official Instagram account announced earlier in the day (October 4) that Nick’s performance would be postponed.
The statement read: “As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery.”
This is not the first time Nick has suffered an injury since the new season began in September. Shortly after the first live show, he disclosed that he had hurt his arm and shoulder while changing a tyre, but was medically cleared to perform on the show the previous weekend.
Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday, October 5th at 6:25pm on BBC One.
