ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – The National Park Service shared an update Thursday announcing the entire length of the parkway is closed.
The closure comes in the wake of Hurricane Helene and the damage that is left behind.
NPS did not share a timeline for this closure, saying it will remain in place until staff can safely assess the park and clear the damage.
Roanoke County Parks and Rec wants the public to know that even with the parkway closed, there is still an available entrance to Explore Park:
