A British explorer discovered an abandoned morgue with an autopsy table and Victorian hearse left that could have stood empty for over a century.
Chloe Urbex, an explorer with over 6,000 followers on Instagram, came across the abandoned morgue while exploring a cemetery in Belgium a couple of weeks ago.
Inside was the shell of a hearse from the Victoria era, indicating that the morgue has been abandoned since at least the 19th century.
Chloe said: ‘I stumbled across the cemetery online while I was looking at mortuaries.
‘There was a little bit of a spooky atmosphere due to the fact a storm hit while I was there which meant we were hit with both thunder and rain.
‘Inside the mortuary, there was a hearse and autopsy table. But the hearse was the only thing that stood out as the autopsy table was just a brick structure.
Chloe posted her findings on TikTok.
The post shows that outside the morgue there is a small building with a statue of Jesus on a sign of the cross, alongside a couple of headstones set among the pebbled grounds.
As she enters the morgue, Chloe videos a stone autopsy table before panning around to the Victorian-era hearse.
The ancient vehicle has carriage lamp brackets, white metal detailing and large wheels.
The post has wowed TikTokers, gaining 4,000 views, hundreds of likes and a heap of comments from fans.
‘Wow, that’s not something you see nowadays,’ commented Zoe.
Another wrote: ‘Wow, fantastic.’
Chloe’s social media platform is built on discovering spooky, but picturesque buildings that have often been abandoned.
Before finding the morgue, the explorer has made a host of other interesting discoveries such as an abandoned hospital, a horror museum and disused race tracks.
