According to a food expert, incorporating specific ingredients into your diet can make you appear a decade younger. Phil Bianchi, founder of The Gift of Oil, recommends five anti-ageing foods, starting with extra-virgin olive oil.

He states: “Known for its health benefits, such as reducing bad cholesterol, stroke and high blood pressure, Extra Virgin Olive Oil also has plenty of anti-ageing benefits too. In fact, the monounsaturated fats in olive oil have been shown to help reduce the skin ageing, as it has strong inflammatory effects.”

Phil also suggests consuming green tea, dark chocolate, pomegranates, and watermelon, citing their anti-ageing properties. He explains: “Green tea has lots of benefits, and is one of the most popular drinks for anti-aging. It contains lots of Vitamin B2, which helps to tighten the appearance of the skin. As well as Vitamin B2, it also contains lots of antioxidants that are a preventative for any fine lines or wrinkles.”

Additionally, Phil notes that dark chocolate can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, reduce inflammation, and improve blood flow to the skin, while its flavanols can protect the skin from sun damage and reduce the risk of sun-induced wrinkles.

“Full of lots of healthy nutrients, pomegranates have a whole variety of health benefits for the body and the skin. It’s been found that pomegranates can in fact help to reduce any sun damage and brown spots on the skin. The antioxidants in the fruit also help to protect the skin’s collagen – making it one of the top fruits for anti-ageing! ” “Watermelon is not only extremely hydrating, which is good for the skin, but it also contains lots of vitamins, including Vitamin A, B and C. The combination of these helps to brighten the skin, boost skin health and help towards a youthful and soft appearance.”, reports Gloucestershire Live.

Phil has come up with a breakfast that combines all the ingredients Ingredients 150g frozen mixed berries 50g watermelon 1 ripe banana 75ml oat milk 1 tsp maple syrup 1⁄2 tbsp vanilla protein powder, vegan version if needed To top Pomegranate seeds Dark chocolate 25g granola 1 tbsp mixed nuts and seeds Drizzle of olive oil Serve with 1 cup of Green tea.
