Two pensioners were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on the A77 near Monkton on Thursday afternoon, October 3.

A 78-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman remain in a “serious” condition following the incident which involved a silver Mercedes A200 and a red Renault Captur.

Emergency services were called to the scene, approximately half a mile south of the Dutch House Roundabout, just before 2.30pm with the driver and passenger of the Mercedes later taken to hospital.

Police are now appealing for information after the crash left the road closed for around six hours to allow investigations to be carried out.

Constable Nigel Shaw, Ayrshire Road Policing, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing for anyone who has any information to contact us.

“I would particularly appeal to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and may have witnessed the crash or who has dash-cam footage which may assist to get in touch.”
