G81 is the postcode with the most Registered Sex Offenders in West Dunbartonshire, according to Police Scotland figures.
As part of a commitment to demonstrate openness and transparency in respect of the information we hold, Police Scotland publish data regarding the number of Registered Sex Offenders (RSOs) in communities, broken down by postcode.
A total of 46 are registered as living in G81, the postcode covering Clydebank, Old Kilpatrick and the Cochno area around Faifley and Duntocher.
G83, the postcode covering Alexandria, Balloch, Arrochar, Gartocharn, Inverarnan and Arden, has 25 RSOs living locally.
In Dumbarton (G82) there are 16 sex offenders according to the latest data, published last month, whilst 21 currently reside in G84 – covering Helensburgh, Rhu, Garelochhead, Kilcreggan and Shandon.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Registered Sex Offenders (RSOs) are managed robustly and effectively through Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA), which provide a comprehensive response to a complex issue.
“Police Scotland, local authorities and other partners use professional assessment, robust risk assessment processes, and the latest technologies to manage RSOs, mitigate risk and properly target appropriate resources at those who pose a risk to the public.
“Those subject to Sex Offender Notification Requirements (SONR) are placed on the register for a wide spectrum of sexual offending.
“We can never eliminate risk entirely, but sexual reoffending rates of RSOs remain very low and we want to reassure communities that all reasonable and appropriate steps are being taken to protect them.”
