There was a familiar look about Andy Halliday ‘s celebration after he netted the winner at Easter Road.
The former Rangers and Hearts star has long been a target for the Hibs fans since the 2016 Scottish Cup Final. But he’s had the last laugh more than once since. He netted a derby double in 2022 as the Jambos came from behind to win the Edinburgh derby 3-1, and he was at it again for Motherwell, volleying in Kofi Balmer’s long throw to ensure Stuart Kettlewell’s men left Leith with all three points.
That came after Junior Hoilett had drawn Hibs level just moments after Apostolos Stamatelopoulos had lashed in the opener. Nectar Traintis’ sending off left David Gray;s men at a disadvantage for the final 13 minutes plus stoppage time, and Halliday made them pay. He made a beeline for the Well support and Gers fans watching on certainly recognised the celebration.
Halliday slid on his knees before pointing to the turg with both hands held out, reminiscent of former Ibrox teammate Alfredo Morelos. El Buffalo broke out the same cele on countless occasions in Light Blue and punters were quick to spot it.
One posted: “He’s still got love the Buff, what a f****** guy!” While another added: “He is one of our own.”
