Steve Clarke could be facing another Scotland injury call off with Angus Gunn now a doubt.

The Norwich City keeper had to be subbed off at half-time with a rib injury in their 4-0 Championship win over Hull City at Carrow Road. The keeper has come in for criticism for his recent performances in dark blue, with the Tartan Army questioning whether Clarke should take him out of the firing line and reinstate Craig Gordon.

The veteran Hearts keeper may now get a quickfire international return. He was left out of the squad for Euro 2024 and was brought on in Scotland’s final pre-tournament friendly against Finland at Hampden it what appeared to be his international swansong, But Gordon insisted he was remaining available and after winning back his spot in the hearts starting XI, was called up for the Nations League clashes against Croatia and Portugal.

And now he could be set to start, with Canaries boss Johannes Hoff Thorup still unsure whether Gunn will be able to join up with the Scotland squad. He said: “Angus jumped to take the ball and took a knock in the ribs,” said Thorup. “He was in some discomfort and was unable to come out for the second half. It’s too early to say if he will be able to go away with Scotland. We’ll know more once he has had a scan.”
