Coronation Street seems to have revealed the disturbing next move of Kit Green – and it doesn’t good for Billy Mayhew.

The corrupt police officer, portrayed by Jacob Roberts, made his debut on the cobbles this year as Bernie’s (Jane Hazlegrove) long-lost child.

Soap veteran Bernie gave up Christopher ‘Kit’ Green for adoption nearly three decades ago. A few months back, she finally located him.

Meanwhile, Bernie’s twins Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash) were shocked to discover they had another sibling.

Moreover, Kit played a role in getting Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper), a vile character, imprisoned for the murder of Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton). Kit planted Lauren’s DNA in paedophile Nathan’s van, framing him.

Since then, Kit has become a regular face on the cobbles, causing plenty of upheaval. In addition to forcing soap icon Beth Tinker (Lisa George) to leave the street, Kit also contributed to the split between Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) and Daisy (Charlotte Jordan), reports the Liverpool Echo.

However, viewers seem to have figured out Kit’s next scheme on the street. This week on the soap, his brother Paul’s funeral took place after his fight with MND. Before attending, Kit was met by his colleague DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

She informed him that his fellow officers at the station had collected some money for Kit to donate to an MND charity. Kit was delighted to see the envelope of cash before tucking it into his jacket.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the envelope full of cash disappeared in the episode, sparking online speculation of foul play. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer posted: “Kit never passed the money.”

Another responded: “I thought this and it’s still going round my head!” A third added their voice to the chorus of suspicion, declaring: “He is a con man.”

This sentiment was shared by another who commented: “He was never going to. He’s a bent cop.” And yet another fan expressed distrust, writing: “Don’t trust him there’s something dodgy about him.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
