Emmerdale viewers were taken aback after spotting Beth Cordingly in a rather risque TV show on Netflix.
Beth, who portrays Ruby Fox-Miligan on the ITV soap, made her first appearance earlier this year. As Caleb’s (William Ash) fiery wife, Ruby has already stirred up a fair amount of trouble in the Dales.
Not only is she hell-bent on taking down Kim Tate (Claire King), but Ruby also recently found herself at death’s door after being trapped in a barn fire ignited by Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb).
Before joining Emmerdale, actress Beth was no newcomer to the small screen. Over time, she has featured in popular shows such as Doctors, EastEnders and Casualty.
However, it’s her part in a steamy television series from the 2000s that has sparked chatter. In 2007, Beth appeared in an episode of ITV’s Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, reports the Mirror.
The programme, which chronicled the life of sex worker Hannah Baxter, also known as Belle de Jour, played by Billie Piper, ran for four seasons and was filled with provocative scenes.
And during the fifth episode of its inaugural series, Beth made a surprising cameo. Beth portrayed a fellow call girl named Naomi who engages in a threesome with Billie’s character and one of their clients.
“Secret Diary of a Call Girl” made its way onto UK Netflix this year after originally airing on ITV, and viewers were taken aback by its risque content. One viewer expressed their astonishment on social media at the time, saying: “Secret Diary of a Call Girl is on Netflix and upon rewatching it, I can’t believe this was a proper show on ITV”.
The appearance of Beth in the steamy series caused quite a stir among fans, with one person posting on Facebook: “Just discovered Ruby is in episode 5 of Netflix Secret Diary of a Call Girl starring Billie Piper raunchy lol.”
Another chimed in with a reply: “I thought it was her! Can’t watch her on Emmerdale the same way…”
Beth, when not on screen, enjoys a romantic life with her partner, fellow actor Ian Kelsey. Interestingly, Ian had his own stint on “Emmerdale” over two decades ago, portraying Dave Glover from 1994 until his character met an untimely end in 1997.
In a heart-to-heart with The Mirror, Beth shared insights into her personal life: “I am very in love with Ian and very happy. I think it really does work him being an actor too. He has been so fantastic.”
She added, appreciating the shared experience of their profession: “There is that thing as an actor where you are always taken away from home. But he totally gets it. He knows a lot of the crew and cast and so it’s lovely to be able to share what I’ve been up to, knowing he understands.”
