A hapless cow found herself in a sticky situation when she fell into a sinkhole in a Cumbrian field on Saturday. Firefighters were called to the scene near Nenthead to rescue the unfortunate bovine, named Cinnamon.
The Carlisle East fire crew reported: “‘At approximately 10am, Carlisle East’s appliance and Enhanced Rescue Unit, alongside Lazonby’s appliance, were mobilised to reports of a cow stuck in a sinkhole.”
“In attendance, they discovered a young cow that was well and truly stuck at the bottom of a sinkhole.”
“Crews worked alongside the farmer, and heavy plant operators, to dig around the animal, and use our specialist animal rescue equipment to pull Cinnamon to safety – thankfully injury free.”
“Cinnamon was rescued in moooooving circumstances,” they added with a touch of humour.
