Michelle Keegan has candidly spoken about a shift in her married life with Mark Wright, confessing that their life is a little less vibrant since they tied the knot nine years ago.
Opening up to her fans about the couple’s off-screen dynamic, the star of ‘Fool Me Once’ revealed that evening rendezvous have been swapped for cosier ones on the couch accompanied by their dogs and some television downtime.
The 37 year old told Closer Magazine: “I’m happy to have a night on the sofa with our dogs watching TV and relaxing.”
Michelle added a snapshot of nostalgia into the mix, saying: “In the old days, we’d go out for dinner and drinks until the early hours.”
However, these days have seemingly retreated to memory as she joked: “But now, after dinner, I’ll look at my watch and say, ‘It’s 9:30pm, we’d better get back home for bedtime! It’s a bit more boring now!” reports the Manchester Evening News.
The couple’s preference for homely evenings is hardly surprising considering their luxurious abode a £3.5million Essex mansion complete with five bedrooms, an ultramodern gym, sauna, outdoor swimming facility and its own cinema room.
On an Instagram page Mark and Michelle set up in 2021 specifically to document their house renovations, the pair offered glimpses into their transformation journey.
August 2023 marked the culmination of their endeavours and was celebrated with a ‘Marchella’ themed housewarming bash shared with friends and family.
Previously, the former Coronation Street star was overcome with emotion when touching on the subject of their dream home accomplishments, a project partially undertaken during her time in Australia.
Speaking to The Guardian, she revealed: “It still gets me emotional. Because we’ve worked really hard for it. We’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices.
“I missed lots of milestones in my life due to work. Mark went to LA and we spent months apart, which was hard. But, it’s worth it.”
Michelle elaborated that their home symbolises “about security” because “you never know when all this is going to end”.
The love story began behind the scenes at the X Factor and continued as they kept bumping into each other at various events thereafter.
Their romance became official in 2012 after the ex-TOWIE star asked Michelle out on a date a year later following their unintended meet-ups.
Mark proposed to Michelle in the subsequent year during an idyllic getaway to Dubai and, cementing their love, the pair were wed in 2015.
