Loanee Vaclav Cerny has deleted his Instagram following a nightmare week for the Rangers winger.

Since arriving from Wolfsburg last summer, the 26-year-old has been an ever-present in Philippe Clement‘s starting line-up. However, the performances from the Czech international have failed to meet the expectations of some supporters so far this season – and temperatures reached boiling point in the narrow 1-0 win over Hibs at Ibrox last weekend. Cerny was caught telling the home support ‘where to go’ during their 1-0 win after he groans from the home crowd as he was robbed of the ball.

Boss Clement would step in to speak to the player on the touchline in an attempt to defuse the escalating tensions, before being replaced by Dujon Sterling shortly after. Things didn’t get any better for the wide man in Europa League action for Cerny in midweek during the heavy 4-1 defeat to Lyon.

The forward somehow blasted over an empty goal in the early stages of the game – before Malick Fofana netted the opener moments later. Lyon star Maxence Caqueret taunted Cerny following the full-time whistle – going as far to thank him for waking up the Ligue 1 side.

He said: “The open goal miss definitely helped us because it gave us a slap in the face and we came alive after that. So thanks for the miss!”

Cerny’s account – which boasted over 100k followers – has now been deactivated. His last post was announcing his move from the Bundesliga side to Rangers.
