Six people have been arrested following an outbreak of ‘violence’ and ‘disorder’ following Hibs clash with Motherwell in Edinburgh.

A large disturbance took hold in the capital following the Scottish Premiership clash between the two clubs at Easter Road today.

Cops raced to St Andrew Square where disorder broke out following the end of the match which finished 2-1 to the Steelmen.

Edinburgh trams had to be halted amidst chaotic scenes in the capital.

Social media footage from the scene shows rows of police cars parked up with blue lights on as officers dealt with the incident.

Police Scotland say they have launched a probe into the ugly scenes that took place following the match.

A Force spokesperson said: “Six people have been arrested following incidents of violence and disorder in the St Andrew’s Square area of Edinburgh after the Hibs v Motherwell match on Saturday, 5 October, 2024.

“An investigation is under way to identify further individuals involved.”
