Airdrie star Dylan MacDonald insists his side dropped two points in their 1-1 basement battle draw with Dunfermline on Saturday.

Mason Hancock headed in an Adam Frizzell cross to cancel out Chris Kane’s controversial penalty, after goalkeeper Murray Johnson was judged to have pulled down Aaron Comrie as he raced through on goal.

That leaves Airdrie bottom off the Championship, with the pars ahead on goal-difference.

Right-back MacDonald, 21, said: “It was disappointing not to take all three points from the game.

“It’s a point, and it’s a start, but I feel we’ve missed out on another two points.

“We’re disappointed not to walk away with all three points, but we’ll take it and move on.”

“It’s never a penalty. We’ve watched it back, I don’t know why he’s given it in the first place, but we can’t say too much about it.”

Next up for Airdrie is the SPFL Trust Trophy fourth round against MacDonald’s former employers East Kilbride.

While the Diamonds demolished Mick Kennedy’s Lowland League cracks 8-0 at New Broomfield in the Premier Sports Cup group stages back in July, MacDonald anticipates a much tougher test this time around.

He said: “I’m buzzing. Hopefully we can kick on and do what we did the last time, but they will be better than what they were last time and it should be a good game, again.

“I’ll maybe have a wee chat a few players before the game.

“Hopefully we can kick on next week, move on, and that gives us confidence, going into the next game.

“We have some huge games coming up and hopefully we can take as many point as we can.”
