HINTON, W.Va. – A band of brother’s event returned for its third year in Hinton to honor a local hero.

The “American Brother Foundation” was established in 2019 by the sister of Marine Corp Sergeant “MECOT Camara” who was killed in the Beirut bombing of 1983.

His sister, Elisa Camara created the foundation to carry on the memory of her late brother and spread the joy he had in life.

This is the third year the foundation has held a “Ruck” also known as a hike to bring people together and always remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.

Camara’s sister tells us this even means that her brother and others will not be forgotten.

“It means my brothers not forgotten. It means all the ones that didn’t come home,” said Elisa Camara. “They’re not forgotten because we can still come together and honor them and we can all love each other.”

The foundation works to provide resources for veterans, scholarships for military kids and much more.
