The user @motivafithub on TikTok divulged the nifty tweak – simply stir a teaspoon each of cinnamon and cocoa powder into your normal brew. This duo is acclaimed not only for activating cinnamon’s reputed fat-burning properties but for adding a hint of sweetness with the cocoa.

The theory has been given the thumbs up by medical professionals, including Dr Taz, a board certified doctor and best-selling author. She suggests that adding certain ingredients to your morning brew can kick-start your metabolism and aid weight loss.

On her website, she explains the science behind it. Dr Taz said: “Adding cinnamon to your morning cup can help reduce hyperglycemia, increase fat burning and decrease inflammation. All of these are incredibly beneficial to speed up your metabolism and help with weight loss. Cinnamon is a great addition to any herbal, green, or black tea, as well as coffee.”

She also recommends coconut oil as another health-boosting addition due to its high ratio of medium chain fatty acids (MCTs), which she describes as a “special kind of fat” that your body metabolises differently.
