SUMMERS COUNTY, W.Va. -The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department along with other local emergency responders have pulled together to donate resources to emergency responders in Tennessee.

The local fire department decided to donate a truck and will be used for rescues to Southside Volunteer Fire Department after losing a fire truck in the hurricane.

The fire chief for the station says these tragedies reminded them of the 2016 floods here in West Virginia.

“Our department got together and looked at everything we could do to try to help those communities out because that’s what the fire service is about, is helping each other out any way you can regardless of the distance or who the people are,” said Jacob Jeffries, Summer County Volunteer Fire Department Chief.

The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department is taking donations of items such a Gatorade, snacks and more until the truck is delivered.
