Meghan Markle reportedly wants to “share her truth” about life within the Royal Family in her own upcoming memoir – but is said to be holding back on its release for one key reason regarding Prince William.
Sources claim that the Duchess of Sussex is biding her time for the ideal opportunity to publish a tell-all book, which could potentially rake in millions.
Prince Harry’s memoir ‘Spare’, released in January 2023, is believed to have netted him a cool £20 million, including an advance of approximately £14 million, the Express reports.
Despite the potential for more controversy, royal insiders suggest another explosive book from Meghan is likely something the Royal Family will have to face “sooner rather than later,” as per insiders chatting with Closer Online.
Royal commentators are of the opinion that Meghan may follow in her husband’s footsteps with a similar bombshell publication. A source disclosed to the publication: “The word in publishing circles is that everyone’s mad to land Meghan’s memoirs and the numbers being thrown around are ridiculously high.
“We’re talking tens of millions for her authorised biography it’s going to get to the point where she can’t say no. And love her or hate her, there’s no denying that she has an insight into the royals that no one else can share.”
The insider suggested that Meghan has a “remarkable story” to tell – and it’s all about timing.
Following a series of allegations made by Prince Harry in his own sensational memoir, ‘Spare’, he and his brother Prince William are reportedly still not on speaking terms.
Hopes for a thaw in the frosty relations between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, as well as between Prince Harry and his brother, are however still alive. An insider hinted that Meghan might be postponing the publication of her personal memoir to avoid disrupting this delicate process.
The source revealed: “She’s strategically chosen to hold off for the sake of peace, but she absolutely wants to share her truth and why shouldn’t she, when she’s endured so much? “
Meghan and Harry have not shied away from discussing their challenges within the royal institution, having given several revealing interviews such as their infamous chat with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.
Reflecting on her struggles while living under the Royal spotlight, the duchess previously confessed: “I was ashamed to say it at the time. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. And that was a very real and clear and frightening and constant thought.”
