Outlander fans are baffled by Claire’s (played by Caitriona Balfe) attitude to her husband Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) throughout the hit series.
Claire’s story began when she was whisked back in time to the 18th Century, quickly falling for a rugged Highlander in the midst of the Jacobite rising.
The swoon-worthy romance at the centre of Starz’ successful historical drama has entranced millions of fans over the years, and their adventures will continue in the second half of season seven.
Ahead of the next crop of episodes arriving this November, fans have been discussing the highs and lows of the Frasers’ journey through the centuries.
While viewers are enamoured with Claire and Jamie’s passionate relationship, one devotee has put their finger on something that seems to have been missing all these years.
Taking to Reddit, this confused viewer asked: “Does Claire even realize how hot her husband is?!
“I feel like he is always complimenting her looks, her body, etc. but it’s weird that her POV doesn’t really say much about him except when she talks about his muscle.
“I don’t know. I’ve been married 30 years and I still compliment my husband on the physical things I love about him.”
This Outlander fan was also referring to the original novels by Diana Gabaldon, which goes into much greater detail about the steamier aspects of their relationship.
Although Jamie is both verbal and physical about his affection for his wife, other Fraser fanatics pointed out there are plenty of other signs that Claire still fancies the Scottish hero after all these years.
“She constantly talks about his high cheek bones, slanted cat eyes, the colors and texture of his hair, his knife edge nose, etc,” someone replied.
Another said: “Of course she knows! She renounced hot baths and indoor plumbing, forever, for him.
“How many women can do that for a dude? She just isn’t the verbal type, she shows her affection by action not words, that is all.”
And a third replied: “Are you talking about show Claire? Book Claire talks often about Jamie’s attributes [winky emoji].
“She doesn’t tell him constantly she loves him, but is implied and understood, they even have a conversation about that one time.”
After years living on Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina, Claire and Jamie finally arrived back in Scotland at the end of season seven, part one.
Miles away from the gruelling combat of the American Revolution, there could be many more romantic moments between the pair to come when Outlander finally returns.
Outlander season seven part two premieres on Friday, November 22, on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK and on Starz in the US.
