BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Virginia State Police said a 65-year-old woman was killed in a car crash in Giles County on Thursday, Oct. 3.

According to a press release, Virginia State Police said the accident happened on Route 460 in Giles County at around 7:03 p.m. A 2017 Chevy Sonic was heading West, coming to the intersection with Kow Camp Road, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. Virginia State Police said the vehicle went over an embankment, became airborne, and hit a haybale after landing and then hit several trees as it continued through a field.

Virginia State Police said the driver, 65-year-old Cynthia L. Goad of Narrows, was taken to the hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
