A man was attacked and scarred for life when trouble flared at M&D’s Theme Park.

Connor Orr slashed his victim twice with a piece of glass after a row over a spilled drink.

Orr, 32, of Conan Court, Cambuslang, admitted assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement on March 17 last year.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that the victim and friends were playing pool when trouble broke out with a party that included Orr.

Scott O’Connor, prosecuting, said: “One of [the victim’s] friends dropped a drink, causing the other males to become angry.

“Both groups were involved in a large altercation. Security staff had to intervene and ask the accused’s group to leave.

“The complainer and his friends left shortly before 10pm and were standing at the exit.

“Orr ran towards them and [the victim] saw he had something in his hand. He was struck twice on the head.”

The victim was taken to hospital where a wound behnd his ear was closed with nine stitches.

Defence lawyer Chris Devine said warehouse worker Orr has no previous convictions.

Mr Devine added: “He has not been in trouble since this incident 18 months ago. He is a genuine first offender.”

Sheriff Liam Murphy deferred sentence until next month for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment, but warned Orr: “All sentencing options, including custody, are open.”
