Ensuring that indoor humidity levels are under control is essential for mould prevention. This problem typically manifests at windows, notorious for being condensation hubs, despite the presence of double or triple glazing.
Come morning, droplets of water on windows are a common sight. The latest buzz is about a miracle product touted by cleaning enthusiasts as the ultimate solution for banishing window condensation once and for all, reports the Express.
Kymberley Folliard shared her frustration within a Mrs Hinch cleaning group on Facebook: “Window condensation. How do you all manage to wake up every morning without it? It’s on every window at the front of my house and it’s quite bad.”
Buying a separate dehumidifier for each room wasn’t a viable option for Kymberley. Her post quickly attracted a plethora of advice from numerous devotees of Mrs Hinch.
Among the responders, one emerged with a straightforward, cost-effective solution. “I don’t know if anyone’s put this. But when I had this it was really simple. There are little vents in the window frame. Once I opened these I didn’t have it anymore.”
Another offered her advice, saying: “We’ve had this recently and I’ve found leaving windows on the latch all the time really helps. We’ve also bought some of the small dehumidifiers and have sat them on the windowsills.”
The conversation about damp homes often includes tips for using dehumidifiers, though they can be costly. A third, however, shared her success with more affordable solutions, praising Amazon’s interior dehumidifier crystals: “See them £1 or £2 dehumidifiers they work a treat!”
She elaborated on her own struggles, saying, “And just like that, I had this problem every morning without fail in my two-bedroom apartment and put one of them on every windowsill and it never came back again.”
These budget-friendly items can not only be purchased online but also from high street retailers such as Poundland for 80p, at Asda for £1.25, and The Range for £1.49.
One member contributed another hack for dealing with condensation: “I had this problem in a house and someone gave me this tip and it works!”
She recommended a simple solution involving everyday items: “Put a tiny drop of washing-up liquid onto a cloth and rub over the condensation, after a few minutes it disappears.”
