Police officers have sealed off a Scots park after a man was attacked with a weapon this morning. The incident took place near Sandyhills Park.

A photograph from the scene in Glasgow shows a cordon in place and police officers standing guard, next to one of the signs within the park.

Another image shows a police vehicle parked in front of a cordon following the incident, which took place in Balbeggie Street, which is near to the park.

Police Scotland said the incident involved a man having been attacked with a weapon and an investigation into the assault had been launched.

A spokesperson said: “Around 11am on Monday, October 7, 2024, we were called to a report of a man having been assaulted with a weapon in Balbeggie Street, near to Sandyhills Park, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and a 31-year-old man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
