A TikTok travel enthusiast has shared the breath-taking views of Santorini, confessing that her two-hour wait to see the sunset was absolutely worth it.

Known for documenting her global adventures on social media, Paige Wooldridge (@paige_wooldridge) was clearly captivated by the Greek island on her trip earlier this year.

She posted a brief video from her vantage point overlooking the ocean as numerous other tourists also soaked in the stunning view.

“Definitely worth the two hour wait,” she captioned the post for her 2,900 followers. “You sit on top of the castle in Oia 2 hours before sunset to get the best spot,” she further explained.

To illustrate her point, Paige swept her camera across the area at twilight, revealing the sun’s golden radiance over the tranquil waves as it gradually disappeared from sight.

Despite her modest following, the video attracted a wider audience on TikTok, with over 120,000 people checking it out. “Yes, I [did] not wait so long, the best view is from ruins, I stay in different places but the best is on the ruins,” one viewer agreed, having watched the sunset from a similar location.

“Literally the best spot though,” another concurred. ” Wow, love seeing the BTS [behind the scenes] of the realities of the crowd,” a third person commented, to which Paige replied: “It gets so busy! But 100% worth it.”

“Stunning! ” a fourth TikTok user chimed in. “Can’t wait to go next week.” In discussions about sunsets, Santorini often tops the list, but one user suggested a gem even in that renowned setting, replying: “Hear me out. Imerovigli. Trust me,” highlighting an idyllic village on the island itself.

Moreover, one of Paige’s followers reminisced about a beach much further afield, saying: “The sunset on a beach in the Seychelles was stunning. Just a few people enjoying it in peace.”

Though diminutive in size – only ten miles long and three miles wide – Santorini punches above its weight with nearly two million visitors descending upon its shores annually, while the actual population is only around 16,000. When tourist season peaks, cruise liners flock to Thira, the principal village of Santorini, disgorging waves of tourists.

And the suggestion by Paige’s follower spotlights a serene haven in Santorini: Imerovigli, lauded by Yvonne’s Travel blog as the ultimate retreat for experiencing the beauty of the Greek isle. The blog also recommends Imerovigli as the ideal launching point for those wishing to trek to Skaros Rock, a popular landmark.

The blog adds that with “unparalleled caldera vistas, resulting from a monumental volcanic episode”, Imerovigli offers not just peace but also some of the finest panoramic views available.
