A multi-talented a writer, musician and actor is taking on a mammoth task later this year – when he plays no fewer than 18 characters in his latest one-man show.

Performing a one-man ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens is no mean feat…. but that is exactly what Prestwick’s Ken O’Hara will be doing this Christmas season.

Ken presents his plays through his own company MAD Productions and has previously toured with his solo performances including Catherine Czerkawska’s ‘The Price Of A Fish Supper’ about the demise of the Ayrshire fishing industry.

Ken will be reviving his solo ‘A Christmas Carol,’ adapted by Greg Oliver Bodine in which he plays no fewer than 18 characters.

Speaking ahead of his performances Ken said: “I love the solo performance. It’s terrifying, yes, but the creative aspect is so challenging and rewarding.

“Each character has a different voice, gait and mannerisms. The main character is, of course, the old curmudgeon, Scrooge, which is a gift to any actor!”

Ken collaborates with Isi Nimmo who adds her expertise with lighting, audio and direction.

The play is based on Charles Dickens’ actual performance during his tour of USA in 1867 and Ken transforms himself into the character of Dickens with great aplomb.
