A veterinary practice in Ayrshire has unveiled plans for a major £800,000 refurbishment to provide the best possible care for local pets.

Collier and Brock Vets in Troon is being redeveloped to create a more spacious, modern practice equipped with the latest technology to meet the growing demand for high-quality pet care.

Once complete, the new-look practice in Portland Street will boast four consultation rooms including one exclusively for cats, two operating theatres, a dental suite with X-ray facilities, a dedicated ultrasound suite, an in-house laboratory and separate wards for cats and dogs to provide a comfortable environment for all patients.

The practice will also create a bereavement room to provide a calm, quiet and less clinical space for owners and their pets during difficult times, with a rear exit for privacy.

The work promises to be a major boost for pet owners who will benefit from more appointment times, upgraded facilities as well as more frequent and wide-ranging services – including laser therapy which aids pain relief and wound healing following surgery.

The £800,000 revamp is being funded by VetPartners, a veterinary group of some of the UK’s most respected and trusted small animal, equine, mixed and farm practices, including Collier and Brock Vets which also has a practice in Irvine.

A temporary branch has been created at nearby Templehill to ensure continuity of pet care during the work.

The veterinary team will provide all routine treatments from the Templehill branch, such as microchipping, vaccinations and check-ups, while the team will also be on hand to offer expert advice about pet health and behaviour.

More complex procedures and emergency treatment will be carried out at Collier and Brock Vets’ branch in Irvine, which will operate from Monday to Saturday during the redevelopment.

Practice manager Elizabeth Frew said: “We have been at this site since the 1980s and this will be the first major work so it’s a really exciting time. We have outgrown the practice in its current form, and the work will create much more space.

“Having two operating theatres and four consult rooms will allow us to see more patients and carry out more procedures every day, so we’ll have better availability.”

Clinical director Mara Artuffo Binning said: “This major project and the additional space created will enable us to offer more services for our clients and patients.

“Our wonderful team is fully committed to develop our practice embracing Zero Pain, Fear Free and Cat Friendly principles when caring for our patients, and we are all excited for our new premises.”
