Big Brother fans have been raving about their “obsession” after figuring out where they recognise one of the show’s newest contestants from.
The reality series, which sees participants undertake various challenges under constant surveillance, relaunched with a blast on Sunday (October 6) night with presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best.
The initial episode featured the introduction of 16 fresh faces from across Britain moving into the legendary Big Brother abode. Yet, astute viewers were quick to spot a familiar face in Emma Morgan, realising that the 53 year old entrepreneur isn’t new to TV.
Emma, who hails from Altrincham and owns an aesthetics business, was the second entrant to make her mark, expressing uncertainty over whether she would be the source of ‘peace’ or ‘drama’ in the house.
Social media was abuzz following her Big Brother debut, as fans hastily labelled her ‘iconic’, even speculating she might snatch the title before the competition truly kicks off.
However, the discovery that she’s had several stints as a nurse on Coronation Street set tongues wagging, with one individual highlighting on X, together with clips of her appearances: “Obsessed with the fact that Emma from Big Brother is a former Page 3 model who’s played a nurse in Coronation Street not once but twice”, reports the Manchester Evening News.
But that’s not the extent of her acting credentials; as OK Magazine disclosed, Emma has also graced the sets of Hollyoaks and Emmerdale, as well as numerous theatre roles, preceded by her glamour modelling era during the ’90s.
These days, Emma is the proud owner of an aesthetics business and following her daughter’s encouragement, she applied for the show.
Her ‘jaw dropped’ upon learning she’d been accepted. She embraced the ‘mother hen’ role upon entering the house but with a playful twist, quipping that although she claims to be ’21’, she boosts her figure with pants equipped with ‘built-in butt cheeks’.
On discussing what she will add to the mix in the house, Emma explained: “I’m going to bring peace and harmony and a whole lot of laughter – that’s going to be me. But saying that, I could go in there and be the one to cause all the drama. I would like to think I’m the peacemaker.”
She also addressed whether she’ll be taking on a nurturing role: “People ask me if I’m going to be the mother hen in the house – I might have times where I’m the mother hen but generally speaking I’ll be one of the girls. I don’t think I really act my age when I really should so I can’t see myself acting my age in Big Brother.”
Big Brother airs Sunday to Friday on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
