Police in Ayrshire are appealing for information after a man was hospitalised in a robbery in Stewarton.

The incident happened in Vennel Street in the town at around 4pm on Monday, October 7. A 55-year-old man was within a property when a man entered and assaulted him before robbing him of a two-figure sum of cash.

The suspect then left on a dark coloured mountain bike.

He is described as white, in his early 30s, 5ft 8, of slim build with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and dark coloured trousers.

The victim was taken to Crosshouse Hospital where he received treatment for head injuries.

Detective Sergeant Keith Hyndes from Ayrshire CID said: “This was a shocking incident and extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the Vennel Street and Lainshaw Street areas at the time who noticed anything suspicious, or a man matching the above description.

“We would also urge anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to check in case they have captured anything which could assist with our enquiries.”
