Meal deals are a lunchtime staple, with many heading to the likes of Tesco or Sainsbury’s to grab a sandwich, a packet of crisps, and a bottle of their favourite drink for £5 or less.
But if you’re feeling a little bored with your go-to lunch, then you might be excited to hear that McDonald’s is launching a new deal that’ll rival your favourite supermarket one.
From October 9, customers across the UK can get their hands on four menu items from the fast food chain for just £5.
As part of the deal, you can choose between either a Cheeseburger or Mayo Chicken, and then you also get Medium Fries, a Medium Carbonated Soft Drink, and a side of four Chicken McNuggets for the set price.
The deal gives a saving of almost £2.50 compared to buying all the items individually, and you are able to nab the four Nuggets, which aren’t usually available to buy separately.
As such Maccies claims it’s not just ‘value for money’, it’s an offer that’s ‘truly unique’.
McDonald’s customers will be able to take advantage of the deal in participating restaurants from 11am onwards. But the catch is that you have to go into the restaurant to claim it, as it’s not available on delivery.
Fast food fans might also want to keep in mind that if you try to upgrade your drink, you’ll be caught out with extra charges.
This comes after McDonald’s recently announced the return of an iconic menu item that hasn’t been available for almost a decade.
How much McDonald’s £5 meal deal items cost individually:
Cheeseburger, £1.39
Mayo Chicken, £1.39
Chicken McNuggets (4 pcs), £2.79*
Medium Carbonated soft drink, £1.59
Medium Fries, £1.69
*Pricing is based on pro-rata of the price for 6-piece Chicken McNuggets as a 4-piece option is not availabe on the main menu.
Please note prices of individual products may vary across restaurants.
The burger — made with pork, barbecue sauce, pickles, and onions — has been a coveted item on the Maccies menu ever since its launch in 1981.
Its cult status perhaps has something to do with the fact that it’s hardly ever available in the UK. Customers haven’t been able to get hold of one in the UK since 2015, but that’s all about to change.
The McRib will be making a comeback on October 16 for a very limited time, and once it’s gone, it’s gone. So you’ll have to be quick.
To put this into context, the last ‘limited time’ item the chain launched was the ‘infamous’ Grimace Shake which ended up selling out in just two days. As such, many missed out on the chance to try the popular drink.
If the McRib isn’t for you, then there’s always a new breakfast item hitting the menu from October 16, and it’s a twist on a ‘God tier’ favourite.
McDonald’s is launching mini hash browns, which will be bite-sized carby morsels available in a a single portion (that’s five for £1.49) or a sharebox (15 for £2.99).
