Residents and business owners in Greengairs are invited to get up to speed with ultrafast Full Fibre broadband.

Openreach’s new digital roadshow will visit the village’s social club on October 9 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm.

The organisation’s specially adapted vehicle will visit towns and villages across the country during October, sharing information with the public on the fastest, most reliable technology delivering broadband to thousands of homes and businesses across Scotland.

More than 1.3 million Scottish properties already have access to Openreach’s ultrafast Full Fibre network, including more than 68,000 across North Lanarkshire, and the company is working directly with local people to extend the new network further.

Fibre technology provides more reliable, resilient and future-proof connectivity, with fewer faults; more predictable speeds; and enough capacity to easily meet growing data demands.

Whether it’s streaming in your living room, video calls with family, banking or customer engagement for businesses, ultrafast Full Fibre boosts every online experience by providing the UK’s most reliable broadband.

The once-in-a-lifetime upgrade means people can connect multiple devices at gigabit-capable speeds and businesses can trade and operate smoothly online, with much less buffering or slowdown at busy times.

Residents who visit the Showcase in Greengairs can also find out more about Openreach’s Fibre Community Partnership scheme, where the company co-funds and builds new full fibre networks for people not included in any other upgrade plans.

A Greengairs partnership is getting under way using the UK Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme – where eligible residents and small and medium-sized businesses can claim vouchers worth up to £4500 to help fund their upgrade.

Households and businesses who don’t already have access to a 100Mbps broadband service can check if they qualify and pledge their voucher on the Connect My Community website.

Stephen Chambers, Openreach regional engagement manager, said: “We’re excited to bring our digital roadshow to Greengairs to talk with residents and businesses about our ultrafast Full Fibre broadband, how it works and what it offers.

“We’re going ahead with a fibre partnership here using UK Government vouchers and we’ve already had great support from the community.

“But there’s still time for more people to sign up for a voucher, so the build reaches as many as possible.

“Once the partnership is live and the build is complete, voucher holders upgrade to the full fibre service through their chosen service provider.

“Ultrafast broadband opens up important economic and social opportunities for people across Scotland.

“The difference it can make to everyday lives is huge, giving users the flexibility and reliability they need at work or at home to use online services seamlessly.”

The Openreach website has more detail on the benefits of Full Fibre, and users can check their postcode and register for updates on fibre availability as the rollout continues.
