Despite the fact that P Diddy is presently incarcerated, his clout allegedly still intimidates certain celebrities.
The chart-topping rapper, real name Sean Combs, was arrested last month on charges that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. The 54-year-old musician has pleaded not guilty to all accusations, yet bail was not granted.
Since Diddy found himself locked up, a raft of additional legal actions have been slapped against him. Reports suggest a hotline established by solicitor Tony Buzbee was inundated with 12,000 calls within a mere 24 hours relating to allegations about the celeb.
Yet, despite these serious accusations and an increasing number of individuals stepping forward with new claims, its believed Diddy’s rep still casts a shadow of trepidation over some in showbiz circles.
An insider divulged to People: “He’s so powerful. Everyone was afraid to cross him. Even though he’s behind bars now, he’s still so powerful. We all knew it even back then.”, reports the Mirror.
Moreover, the source noted: “Everyone always chalked it up to being a creative genius when it came to his obsession with controlling things.”
According to Buzbee, there’s a buzz among big-name stars fretting over the prospect of being dragged into the scandal. This follows assertions that Diddy may have dosed his alleged victims with a horse tranquilliser.
Buzbee, who’s representing roughly 120 purported victims, has suggested that some well-known individuals have been offered an opportunity to sort their victims out financially in private settlements, keeping their own names under wraps.
He remarked: “Everyone is focused on what other celebrities were involved, who is going to be named, who is going to be outed. I don’t expect that to happen this week. We want to make sure if we name individuals beyond Mr Combs that, we have done our homework because it is going to create a firestorm, and we understand that. If you were there in the room, participated, watched it happen and didn’t say anything or helped cover it up, in my view, you have a problem.”
Buzbee also disclosed to TMZ that he has issued a series of demand letters to celebrities allegedly entangled in the scandal.
Diddy finds himself confined at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in New York. Following his apprehension and the accusations levelled against him, his legal representative Erica Wolff released a statement regarding the “meritless allegations”.
She stated: “As Mr Combs’ legal team has emphasised, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus.”
In further comments to TMZ, she elaborated: “That said, Mr Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”
