A huge police presence has been scrambled to an incident in Dunfermline this afternoon.

Officers raced to Haig Street in the city at around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 9, following reports of a disturbance in the area.

Armed officers dressed in black are among those on the scene. The exact nature of the incident remains unclear at this stage.

Images show police tape across the street, which is lined by force vehicles, while dozens of cops stand on the pavement.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed the incident remained ongoing at around 5pm.

They said: “Around 2.25pm on Wednesday, October 9, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Haig Crescent area of Dunfermline.

Officers are currently in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.”
