Holidaymakers were evacuated “by accident” on Wednesday morning at Glasgow Airport as fire alarm and emergency barriers were activated.

Members of the public were blocked from duty-free at around 10am after an alarm was raised in the terminal.

The building was evacuated “accidentally” as a tannoy announcement informed passengers of an alarm activation in another area of the building.

Videos and images captured the chaos as barriers came down between different sections of the terminal.

It was confirmed the airport was open again after the alarm was raised.

It comes as flights to Florida have been cancelled as the US prepares for Hurricane Milton.

Orlando International Airport said it would cease commercial passenger operations at 8am on Wednesday.

Two flights from Edinburgh to Orlando have been delayed by 23 hours, one on Wednesday and one on Thursday.
