MATHENY, W.Va. – Mountain Heart Community Services is having their annual fall bash to familiarize families of young children in the county with different resources available to them.
The organization is welcoming over four hundred children and their families from Wyoming County to their office in Matheny for a two day long event which is slated to continue on Thursday, Oct. 10. Organizations in attendance of the event include Communities In Schools, the WVU Extension Agency among many others.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for us to let the families that are just starting out with kids know of resources that are available to them. A lot of times you don’t know what different resources you have that you can tape into. That’s our goal, to let families know what’s here in the county,” said Medena Lester, family and community engagement specialist.
Children in attendance had the opportunity to receive candy, a pumpkin and go through a Halloween fun house. The event will continue on Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm.
