I have a dog who LOVES to chase balls, but he also has quite the reputation for chewing things up. Regular tennis balls don’t last a day, and even proper squeeky toys end up punctured in the end.

I already knew of Earth Rated thanks to its sustainable poop bags and loved the eco-friendly ethos that the brand’s products maintain – so when I heard they also did dog toys, I was intrigued. I tested out the Earth Rated Interactive Fetch Toy for Amazon’s Bid Deals Day with my black Labrador George – and boy were we impressed.

Usually £9.99, it’s been slashed to half price until midnight tonight (October 9), so if you’re looking for an indestructible dog toy, today’s the best day to get one for just £5.69. For those wondering why it’s already our favourite, let’s just say that after over a week of use, it’s still in tact – so it’s a winner in our house.

Initial thoughts

The Earth Rated Interactive Fetch Toy comes in three different sizes, perfectly suited to each dogs mouth, so we tried medium to be on the safe side. The rubber ball came in completely recyclable packaging, which is very on brand, and which George seemed to enjoy tearing.

George immediately started to chew the ball, and to my surprise, didn’t leave a mark. While he’d usually sink his teeth into balls with hollow insides or chew on tennis balls until they collapsed, the Earth Rated rubber ball held its own, and George happily chomped on it under my desk for the rest of the day.

To give it a proper go, we took ourselves to the park, and I was super pleased to find that the medium sized Interactive Fetch Toy could fit in my regular ball thrower. I could easily launch the ball for George to run after, and it flew a pretty long way thanks to its sturdy weight.

The Earth Rated Interactive Fetch Toy kept George entertained for longer than other balls, and I’d say that’s down to its unique shape. Since it’s not spherical, this toy can bounce in any kind of direction when it lands, which kept George engaged and passing pedestrians on their toes.

Even when George got tired, while he’d usually lie down to chew a toy, he couldn’t seem to make his mark on this one, leaving his new ball to live another day. What’s more, it’s made from bouncy natural rubber and is a fabulous yellow shade, ideal for someone who’s always losing things in the park as it’s still visible at night.

Final thoughts

This ball was the perfect size for my lab, and I loved that it also fits inside a regular ball thrower, making it suitable for people who already own one of these. Its yellow colour made it super easy to spot in the park, and was probably easier for George to follow too.

If the Earth Rated Interactive Fetch Toy gets dirty, it’s really simple to just rinse it under the tap, but you can also give them a good clean in the dishwasher too. Plus, it’s part of a wider range of sustainable toys including flying disks, tug of war ropes and enrichment sticks, so there’s something for every kind of dog personality.

It’s simple to say what I’m most impressed with – the fact that George still hasn’t managed to chew through this ball! So if you have a pup who simply can’t stop destroying their toys, give them a shot at sinking their teeth in to this.

If you’re looking for another interesting shaped toy to keep your pup amused, Pets At Home stocks the Kong Classic Chew Treat Dog Toy in Red, which ranges from £8.50 to £16.00 depending on size.
