A Coltness nursery is celebrating after receiving a four-figure award from the National Lottery which it will use to support the wider community.

Innerleithen Family Learning Centre in Wishaw applied for and were successful in being allocated a National Lottery Community Grant for £5,000.

Head of Centre, Karen Gibb said: “This will help us support our community work within Coltness.

“Every Wednesday, the nursery provides a food and clothing bank for our families and members of the local community. This has accessed by many families, assisting them during the cost of living rise that we are all experiencing.

“The nursery are going to use this allocation of funds to keep our foodbank operating and provide warm clothing and a warm space for families and the local community in the colder months.

We provide information each week to everyone who would like to access financial support from North Lanarkshire Council’s Tackling Poverty Team, Sum It Up Programme and other local charities.

“We are thankful to the National Lottery for the allocation of this grant, as we cannot sustain the support we provide to the community otherwise.”
