A major search is underway to help trace a missing man who vanished from a Scots town this week.

A police helicopter and mountain rescue teams are all involved in the search for Robert Blair who was reported missing from Dalkeith on Monday, October 7.

Robert, known locally as Davie, was last seen around 12.30pm in the Oak Place area. He is described as being around 5ft 3 ins in height and of medium build with brown hair and a goatee beard. When he was last seen he wearing a blue Regatta jacket, blue jeans and beige boots. He may also be wearing a baseball cap and glasses.

Search teams are scouring the Dalkeith, Mayfield and Danderhall areas, with a number of specialist resources deployed.

Sergeant Ali Bruce said: “We are very concerned for Robert’s safety and wellbeing and are keen to trace him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well.

“Officers and a number of specialist resources have been involved in the searches. These include the police helicopter and the Mountain Rescue Team. Searches and enquiries are continuing in the Dalkeith, Mayfield and Danderhall areas.

“Robert is also known to travel throughout the country by bus and officers are working to establish if he has been using public transport.

“We urge anyone who has seen Robert, or indeed Robert himself to please contact us through 101 with incident number 3689 of 7 October.”
