A teenager is releasing his first track after being bitten by the music bug.

Prestwick schoolboy Ryan Holmes has taken to his viola on the song co-written with talent spotter Scott Nicol.

‘Streams of Fire’ will be officially launched at a special event this Friday night at Prestwick’s 65 Club.

Ryan, who attends Wellington School, has been earmarked as one of the rising stars of Scott’s ‘Possibility Screams’ stable which aims to help develop up and coming stars.

The schoolboy’s mum, Jennifer, said: “It’s been an amazing experience for Ryan to be involved in. I still don’t think it’s dawned on him that he has a track being released around the world.

“Everything was professionally recorded at the music studio of Brian Macdonald (formerly of the X Factor) and it’s been a fantastic process from start to finish which has given Ryan an insight into how the business works.

“Scott’s been great in working with him to reach this point and his enthusiasm for the track has been so important.”

Fellow music protege Rona Bryden, aged 16, provides lead vocals on the track.

Scott said: “Right from the start, Ryan came to me wanting to be a songwriter and that is quite unusual for someone of his age.

“Usually with young musicians, they will develop a love for writing after playing an instrument, but Ryan’s been very clear from the beginning that he wants to pursue this avenue.

“We’ve actually got around nine songs already written together and could have chosen any one of them for his debut single. That in itself sets him apart from most of his age He’s extremely creative and has great ideas.”

Scott, who works with a number of young songwriters and artists to give them a platform for the big time, added: “The combination is good because someone like Ryan has the ideas and I just try to add my experience to that. I’m delighted with how the track has turned out.”

The track, which can be downloaded HERE, will be launched from 7.30pm on Friday night at the free to attend event in the 65 Club.
