Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from all senior royal roles in 2020 and since then it has been claimed that Harry has faced multiple challenges in managing his declining popularity and shaping his public image.
After quitting their royal duties and soon after moved to the US in 2020, to start a new life.
However, the couple have fallen out of favour with the public after airing royal family secrets in various interviews and media projects.
Harry has reportedly “completely tanked” his own public image perception, according to broadcaster Esther Krakue.
Although she went on to suggest the secret to Harry’s popularity during previous years has been down to the ‘royal family and their coverage’ of him.
She stated: “They really actually saved his public image because ever since he’s left, and he’s been completely in charge of his image, alongside his wife Meghan Markle, it’s completely tanked.”
“And it just shows that sometimes actually having the protection of people you may not always agree with is a blessing more than a curse,” she surmised.
This follows comments from commentator Mark Boardman in OK! Magazine who stated that Harry “longs” for his friends and would appreciate having a home in London after a turbulent few years since stepping away from royal life.
“Prince Harry’s social life has notably shifted over the past decade,” Mark told the publication. “He appears to have distanced himself from his college friends and lacks a permanent UK residence.”
He continued: “During his visits to London, he typically resides in hotels and avoids public appearances. Undoubtedly, Prince Harry longs for his old friendships.”
“Meghan is frustrated that Harry wants his old life back,” mentioned Mark.
“Meghan loves Harry, but she wants to bring out the better side in him. And she’s quite clear on the roles that they should take together and they are trying to work better together on projects. People are eager to witness a transformed Harry, rather than a return to his previous partying lifestyle, which could lead to undesirable media attention.”
