When it comes to bedding stains, makeup and fake tan are often the main culprits.

Even if you’ve diligently removed all your makeup before bed, remnants or oils from your skincare routine can easily transfer onto your sheets, resulting in hard-to-remove, unsightly stains.

This is particularly frustrating if you have white sheets at home, as even the smallest mark can make them appear dirty. And, after a few washes, they can quickly become dull and grey if not properly cared for.

However, cleaning experts suggest that there’s a simple and affordable hack to restore your bed sheets to their original pristine white condition and remove stubborn stains, reports the Express.

Clare, a cleaning expert from Bust The Dust, has shared an incredibly cheap trick for keeping your white bedding stain-free and bright, even when dealing with the most stubborn marks.

Fake tan and makeup stains can be incredibly difficult to remove, especially if they’re dark or oily. But to effectively treat these stains, Clare recommends an oxygen bleach soak.

For white bedding, this treatment costs about 40p per use. Simply soak the stained area in a solution of oxygen bleach and warm water for at least one to two hours to break down the stain.

Clare from Bust The Dust shared her wisdom, stating: “Prevention is always better than cure when it comes to makeup and fake tan stains. But when they do happen, this affordable trick really does the job without harsh chemicals. It’s all about using the right ingredients at the right time.”

You can bag yourself some oxygen bleach for a mere £2.95 at Tesco or scoop it up for even less at Asda, with a price tag of £2.80.

If food mishaps have marred your pristine bed linen, Clare has dished out yet another savvy and wallet-friendly tip.

She advocates the cunning use of washing-up liquid to combat these unsightly marks, costing you barely 15p for each stain-busting session. Just massage the solution into the offensive mark and give it a quarter of an hour to work wonders, then wash it off with a bit of cold water.

In the battle against the most tenacious of stains, she suggests letting the bedding stew in a concoction of warm water and white vinegar, which adds only 35p to your cleanup campaign.

This potent mix dissolves the greasy elements of the blot, making its subsequent eradication in the laundry load a breeze. Rounding off the process, give the linens a spin in the washing machine on the highest temperature the care label permits.

To achieve the ultimate clean, Clare emphasises the importance of addressing stains posthaste before they settle in for good.

Another golden rule she offers is to stick to rinses with cold water, as higher temperatures could seal the stain deal on your threads.

Lastly, if the weather permits, it’s best to dry your sheets outdoors. The sun, although elusive in the UK during this season, serves as a natural bleaching agent, helping to maintain the brightness and whiteness of your bedding.
