Senator Mark Warner tours Tazewell County(wvva news)

BLUEFIELD, Va. -As recovery from Hurricane Helene’s aftermath continues U.S. Senator Mark Warner of Virginia spent Wednesday touring damage in and around Tazewell County.

Warner stopped in Bluefield, Virginia to meet with county and emergency management officials and to hear directly from the people affected by Hurricane Helene.

At town hall, the Senator reviewed damage assessments for people in Tazewell County and got a better understanding of how to move forward.

He tells us these visits are incredibly helpful to be able to know what needs to be done on the ground.

“Obviously incredibly strong communities. People in southwest Virginia take care of each other but we are moving past the immediate crisis and now into the recovery stage and that means it is important that the federal government and FEMA comes forward with these resources. It’s not charity it is what you pay taxes for”

Besides Tazewell County, Senator Warner toured Pulaski, Narrows and Russell Counties as well.
